Biography
I am a self-taught web developer and designer. And currently the founder of Digital Confection, a creative web development studio specializing in building high-quality custom websites leveraging Drupal and WordPress.
When I am not coding, I enjoy creating cartoon eCards at OllyJolly, or writing short stories. Those who know me well know that writing, grammar, and spelling were never my strong suit and, at times, a massive obstacle to my educational development.
As time went on, I discovered I was not the only one facing these difficulties; many others shared the same challenges. It is why I post my stories on this website hoping to encourage others not to be afraid and keep trying, no matter how hard it may be.
Still very much a child at heart, I also enjoy drawing, doodling, and creating digital art that you can also find on this website.
Before Digital Confection, I was the Lead Developer for the US Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Culture Affairs, supervising the development of several high-profile websites.
In 2012 I founded OpenReporter, a Journalism technology startup. Inspired by the Twitter revolutions of early 2012, it pioneered smartphone geo capabilities to report stories on the ground to a community network of journalists.
Sadly, as with many startups, its product was just too early for its time and closed its doors in early 2016. In 2021, I restored the OpenReporter codebase and refactored into an open-source application that I maintain today via Digital Confection.
I received my BA in Government and International Politics from George Mason University, where I worked as a video editor for the Center for History and New Media.
Thank you for visiting my website. I hope you enjoy it!
