First UPA Style
I’ve been studying what is known as mid-century cartoon / UPA style. You may find this character familiar if you grew up watching Hanna Barbera-like cartoons or some earlier cartoon shorts / early 40s 50s commercials.
The big thing about this style was that, at the time, animation, or the centered Disney style, was very much used to replicate the real world. Artists at the time saw animation for what it could be and went so far as to denounce the known Disney style of the 30s and embrace a more modern approach.
I don’t have a name for this toon, but I hope you all enjoy it! I will be posting a few others in the next few days.
